The African Union (AU)’s apex body (the commission) has officially adopted the Regional Action Plan on albinism as AU policy !
The RAP is now part of its disability architecture.
The RAP was allowed based on the fact that PWA are specifically mentioned in the AU protocol on disability and also because it was primarily because of PWA that there is an expanded section on harmful practices in the Protocol.
Secondly, they have commissioned an AU Envoy to drive the implementation of the RAP. The new envoy will be appointed by the AU and begin work in 2020. Looking forward to collaborating with this person.
